Moderator: “So you spoke about the dangers of contraception. Can you talk about why contraceptives are dangerous?”
Santorum: “What we are seeing is a problem in our culture with respect to children being raised by children, children being raised out of wedlock, and the economic impact and the impact on society.”
PRO TIP, BRO: BABIES HAPPEN WHEN YOU DON’T USE CONTRACEPTION, NOT WHEN YOU DO.

it’s
do you even
how
I HATE YOU. I SERIOUSLY ACTUALLY HATE YOU.
“Contraception is dangerous, because… too many babies!” WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCKING FUCK OF FUCKNOZZLE I HATE YOU.

You see, on Planet Wingnuttia access to contraceptives encourages young people to have sex. To them contraceptives are like Chekov’s Gun. If a school gives a kid a condom then by third period they will have used it. And since in the Kingdom of Popealia on the Planet Wingnuttia contraceptives don’t really work, and condoms lead to the spread of disease, all of these massive school sponsored orgies cause everyone to get pregnant. It is like Bizzaro World in the DC multiverse, except not funny and infinitely more terrifying.

I think this fartbubble and his ilk honestly believe that if you take away contraception, thus making sex outside of marriage “unsafe” again, things will just magically revert to what they believe is the “natural”, “god-given” order of things, where nobody has sex until they’re married and making babies for Jesus.  So for them, it’s a short, if bizarre, extrapolation to the belief that contraception *caused* premarital sex.  (They do not understand causal relationships in any context, it seems.)
Which, of course, is not even remotely how things were even in their beloved Golden Age (the 50’s).  Premarital sex has been around a long time, long before contraception was invented.
But facts do not deter the SuperConservative.  Never have, never will.

Portrait/Logo

Feminist, Witch, writer. Righteous rage, random personal anecdotes, pretties I find on the interwebs, occasional pity parties, and reblogging them as do words good.

Privileged identities include: White, cisgender, binary-identified-gender, currently-able-bodied, allistic, middle-class (lower-middle currently, grew up upper-middle), university-educated.

Non-privileged/oppressed identities include: female, queer, non-Christian/Witch, polyamorous, non-neurotypical.

My real blog, Witch.Words, may be found here.

Oh, and she/her will do fine for pronouns, thank you.

(As for the title...it's generally safer not to ask.)
